LUKE AND NIK – THE SHOT WE NEVER FORGOT

A slight change to the usual format in that we have gone plural. The latest submission is by Luke Norman and Nik Adam, a collaborative Photographic partnership who have been producing work together since they met at University.  Luke and Nik have an impressive client list to their names and produce highly original and intriguing works.
I came across their images through the Wandering Bears website (a community of creative types) and have enjoyed hearing them talk about their practice through the Brighton Photo Fringe.

Luke and Nik - 'The Shot I Never Forgot'

Luke and Nik – ‘The Shot I Never Forgot’

We were on an Artist residency in India, and we found ourselves at the top of Udiapur Mountain, there was this family and who were having problems with their video camera. Having seen us with all our cameras they came over and ask us to fix their. With minimal camera repair knowledge we realised that the camera was completely fucked, and despite us telling them repeatedly it wasn’t working they asked one of us to record their family. So whilst I filmed, Luke was getting some great pictures of the family members and this one of me supposedly filming. I love the guy on the right taking a picture. Don’t think we will ever forget this moment.

The Shot I Never Forgot  is an on-going series of posts where I invite Photographers to share an image that has always remained with them, despite being unused.

The premise is that most photographers shoot many more images than ever see the light of day and often take some fabulous standalone images on instinct whilst making a particular body of work or project.  Because these single images do not fit the theme, they sit gathering dust in the archive.

However, there are usually a few of these images which stay in our minds as they have special significance or are too good to be lying dormant.

The Shot I Never Forgot is an invitation to share these images with the world and let them stand alone in their own right for others to enjoy.
