THE POPPINS PHILOSOPHY TO STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY
THE POPPINS PHILOSOPHY
I had to do a rather boring studio shoot the other day. All B&W head and shoulder shots of ‘actors’. Not the worlds most exciting assignment, especially when most of the time is spent with the sitters fretting about which of their acting faces they should pull to best show off their diverse range.
When in such pickles, I find my mind wanders and my interest migrates towards something more exciting – the view out the window, a pattern on the ground or anything else of interest my wandering eye can settle on.
Ever the optimist and seeker of reward from all endeavours, I was reminded of those important words uttered by our Mary Poppins…
In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. Find the fun and SNAP…the jobs a game.
Cheers Mary – I live by your words and die by your words.
On this particular day, the element of fun came about from taking abstract photos of things in the studio that were not the people. Ahhhh…the beauty of objects is so much more interesting than the human face. Even the humble chair can speak a thousand words.
But it was the reflective umbrellas on this occasion that particularly provided my element of fun!
